FAQS

Data quality & coverage

Launches, amendments and pricing updates are displayed in DataLab in real time. The data is structured and normalized consistently across deal types and regions: IPOs, follow-ons, ABBs, blocks, convertible bonds, ATMs, PIPEs and registered directs across 50+ regions. Over 200 deal-level terms metrics and fields such as bookrunner classification, primary/secondary split, lock-up attribution and greenshoe status are kept up to date with regulatory filings.

For a deeper look at CMG’s data methodology, see From Raw Data to Actionable Insights: Why Data Differentiation Matters in Modern ECM.

CMG DataLab includes 20+ years of global ECM data spanning 38,000+ equity transactions and 19,000+ issuers across 50+ regions.  Historical data is structured and normalized consistently across deal types, making it suitable for backtesting, performance benchmarking and trend analysis across sectors and geographies.

For APAC, EMEA and Latin American markets where underwriter economics are not publicly reported, CMG applies its Global ECM Economics Estimate Model. This delivers standardized, comparable fee estimates by applying consistent logic across bookrunner and manager roles. Modeled estimates are clearly flagged alongside actual data where available, so users can distinguish between reported and estimated figures.

CMG DataLab offers multiple access points for ECM data:

  • Web platform — a browser-based interface for deal calendars, comps, analytics and reporting.
  • Real-Time Feed (GraphQL API) — stream live ECM data into internal data warehouses, dashboards and analytics tools. Query specific fields across deals, participants, terms and activity through a single flexible endpoint.
  • Excel Add-in — pull structured data directly into spreadsheets (available via Microsoft AppSource with no installer required).
  • Mobile (iOS) — access on the go with full functionality.

Analytics & access

DataLab includes 20+ purpose-built dashboards with 100+ filters. Analytics cover global issuance volume and year-over-year trends, IPO and follow-on pricing and discount analysis, sponsor and underwriter league tables, aftermarket performance and cross-regional benchmarking. The platform supports real-time deal calendar views across all 50+ covered regions.

  • Buy-side firms can access My DataLab, a dedicated module for firmwide ECM participation tracking and broker relationship analysis (additional subscription required).
  • Sell-side firms have access to Demand Analytics, which transforms proprietary investor participation data into actionable intelligence for origination teams. It automates data ingestion, resolving investor aliases and surfacing evidence-based targeting recommendations (additional subscription required).

The DataLab Real-Time Feed (GraphQL API) offers flexible, schema-driven access to CMG’s live and historical ECM dataset. Teams can query specific fields across deals, participants, terms and performance metrics through a single endpoint, powering internal databases, dashboards, analytical models and reporting tools without the overhead of pulling full datasets. Event-driven alerts for launches, amendments and pricings are also supported.

Yes. The DataLab Real-Time Feed (GraphQL API) is designed for system integration, feeding structured data directly into data warehouses, pricing models, risk systems and reporting tools.

Real-time data feeds support automated downstream triggers based on deal events such as launches, amendments and pricings.

Yes. DataLab is available globally and covers ECM activity across 50+ regions and supports international deal types including ABBs, rights offerings, convertible bonds, registered directs and cross-border transactions.

International buy-side and sell-side firms use DataLab to monitor global deal activity, benchmark transactions across markets and power internal analytics and reporting.

No. CMG DataLab provides ECM market data, analytics, reporting tools and data feeds. CMG does not provide investment advice, make investment recommendations, rate securities or issuers, or publish research opinions. DataLab is designed to help users access and analyze current and historical ECM data, but users remain responsible for their own investment, trading, compliance and business decisions.
